There's a bitter irony to this year's Festive Quarter. The much anticipated dates are arriving but the atmosphere is saturated with apprehension. COVID stress has now intensified with serious concern about our country's unity, stability and very future.
For example, Halloween arrived just last weekend but I didn't feel the overflowing joy and excitement usually associated with that celebration.
On the streets, people seemed afraid to speak to each other... even mustering a smile was a major struggle. Noone wanted to risk offending or (God forbid) inciting others. People were walking on eggshells.
Yes, the climate in America is not just cold, it's downright tense and anxious.
